Online gaming operator bet365 has announced the launch of its multi-tasking mobile video streaming product which is sure to make sportsbetting pretty easy and interesting for mobile punters. The new video streaming product allows punters to watch and wager on live sporting events with the help of iOS and Android smartphones.
Martin Davies, CTO at bet365 said there’s a similar excitement as 10 years ago, when they started to explore the full potential of the Internet. Bet365 plans to deliver thousands of sporting events in 2012 including tennis, soccer, squash, snooker, basketball, darts, cricket and horseracing.
Mr. Davies further added that their software development teams have cracked a number of difficult technology challenges to enable them to be one of the first companies to offer a video streaming service across multiple mobile platforms. He stated that as connection speeds still need to catch up, they have designed their product to identify what speed the user is on and deliver the best experience that their phone will allow. This is sure to be great news for mobile punters who’ll no longer feel frustrated with slower connections.
The online gaming company is said to have raced ahead its competitors by leveraging the systems and code it developed for its online In-Play system. Presently, the raw video streams are being supplied by Perform which are then integrated into the bet365 system by their development team.
Davies further said that mobile phones are less challenging than computers as everything is optimised for one screen size. This allows them to focus on the performance and speed of delivery rather than diverting their energy and efforts for different screen sizes.
Bet365 began streaming live video coverage of horse racing on iPhones in October, which proved very popular. The company expects to introduce further developments in 2012 with a service that has been designed specifically for tablets. This sounds like great news for mobile gamers as well as punters.
